2018 was a year full of positive changes and upgrades. Take the time to review the entire Towny toolset to ensure that you are getting the full value of everything at your disposal.


We are constantly creating content about you, our clients, and about the importance of supporting local. Throughout 2018 we have reached hundreds of thousands of consumers multiple times. All of the content we create is yours to use. Feel free to share Towny content on your social media sites, emails, or any other channels you use. You can also download any of the material and use it as your own.

We have two main types of content:

  1. Content that discusses the importance of buying local (example: https://www.facebook.com/TownyEvansville/videos/731916333856789/).

  2. Content that provides consumers with information, ideas, and stories about each of you. You have probably seen our interview blogs (if you haven’t been interviewed yet, reach out and we’ll get it scheduled!) or our seasonal guides to buying local (Summer kick off with ideas of what to do locally for summer, date night ideas, the holiday shopping guide, etc.)

We use all of the content we create to drive consumers to go directly to your business, or, we direct them to the Towny app (which is available through a mobile application as well as through any web browser) where they can discover great local businesses through the map view and through filtering based off of the type of service or product they want.


Some consumers are driven by the idea of going to explore new local places, but others sometimes need a bit of a boost to walk in the door for the first time. On Towny, each client has access to Towny Deals to provide that boost. That deal might be economic, promotional, or it may be a deal that coincides with an event you are hosting. These deals can be set-up with expiration dates, and you can create deals that can only be used by each user once.

Rewards/Loyalty Programs

Each Towny client can build their rewards and loyalty program that we can then run. We provide consultation based off of our experience setting up more than 500 programs over the years. Together, we create a program that will achieve the results you are looking for as well as fit within your profitability requirements. The rewards program can be check-in based (come in X times to earn Y) or based on how much your customers spend. The rewards program does not require the consumer to download an app, create a user, or do any extra work. All they need to do is enter their phone number on the kiosk at the point of sale. The rewards program also does not require any integration with your POS system, making installation and maintenance easy.

Direct communication with your customers

The main channel we provide for a direct line of communication is text messaging. There is no better digital communication channel to keep your business top-of-mind with your customers. Within two minutes, 90% of subscribers view your texts, and that number increases to nearly 100% during the first 24 hours.

There are automated text messages that are sent without any intervention from you. One example is the “welcome text” which provides a reminder and incentive for a customer to quickly come back to your business the second time. Did you know that 60% to 80% of satisfied first time customers never come back? The welcome text increases that return rate dramatically. Other examples are texts sent out when someone hasn’t returned for awhile, birthday texts, and notifications when they earn rewards.

As a Towny client, you also have the ability to send ad-hoc texts to your rewards customers. There are too many ways to list here how different businesses are using these texts, but here are some examples: driving traffic during a slow time, announcing new specials or products, and providing advice or helpful tips to keep your business top-of-mind with your customers.


The importance of having a large quantity of high-quality reviews increases in importance every month. Consumers depend on these reviews to find new businesses for two reasons. First, the more reviews your business has, the higher you will rank in searches. This includes but is not limited to Google, Bing, Google maps, Apple maps, and voice searches done on home assistants and phones. The other reason is that consumers look at reviews before deciding to try a new place.

Towny can get you more reviews on any digital property of your choice (though these reviews are usually for Yelp or Google) by utilizing the text messages to your best customers – those that are part of your rewards program.
